About this tool

Choose how much of the original size to keep — 70%, 50% or 30% — and the readout shows the estimated bytes next to the original. You can also pick quality yourself, cap the longest side, drop the frame rate, mute the soundtrack or type an exact size in MB. Re-encoding runs in this tab first; if the browser cannot finish, the clip goes to the server encoder and is discarded after download. The estimate is calculated from bitrate and duration; the download can differ by a few percent.

Questions

What can I open in Compress Video?
Compress Video accepts MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV, M4V, AVI, WMV, FLV, MPEG, MPG, MPE, 3GP, 3G2, TS. Older video containers such as AVI, WMV, FLV, MPEG and 3GP are decoded by the server encoder.
Does Compress Video upload my file?
Most MP4, WebM, images and PDF stay in this tab. Instagram/TikTok crops, DVD, GIF, iPhone presets, stabilize, hard containers (AVI, WMV, HEVC) and a failed local encode go to the server encoder. The file is processed and discarded — we do not keep a copy.
How large can the file be?
Free: 500 MB and 8 exports a day. Plus (waitlist) raises the daily cap. A pasted public file URL is also accepted.
