How it works

About this tool

A voice memo often has a second of nothing at each end. Set how quiet counts as silence (default −40 dBFS) and the tool keeps a 20 ms pad so the first word does not click. Mid-file gaps are left alone.

What can I open in Trim Silence?
Trim Silence accepts MP4, MOV, WEBM, MKV, M4V, AVI, WMV, FLV, MPEG, MPG, 3GP, TS, MTS, M2TS. Older video containers such as AVI, WMV, FLV, MPEG and 3GP are decoded by the server encoder.
Does Trim Silence upload my file?
Browser-native formats stay in this tab. Formats the browser cannot write (AVI, WMV, HEVC, AMR and similar) go to our encoder and are deleted after the download.
How large can the file be?
Free: 500 MB and 8 exports a day. Plus (waitlist) raises the daily cap. A pasted public file URL is also accepted.
