About this tool

For PDFs that ask for a password to open, type it and the tool saves a copy without encryption. For PDFs that open freely but block printing, copying or editing, leave the field empty — the restriction flags are dropped. This does not crack passwords: if you do not have it, the file stays locked.

Questions

What can I open in Unlock PDF?
Unlock PDF accepts PDF. Older video containers such as AVI, WMV, FLV, MPEG and 3GP are decoded by the server encoder.
Does Unlock PDF upload my file?
Browser-native formats stay in this tab. Formats the browser cannot write (AVI, WMV, HEVC, AMR and similar) go to our encoder and are deleted after the download.
How large can the file be?
Free: 500 MB and 8 exports a day. Plus (waitlist) raises the daily cap. A pasted public file URL is also accepted.
